Honors

You may have noticed that during interviews, when Rusty is asked about his various nominations, awards, or charting hits, he's always quick to point out the team effort involved, giving credit where it's due to others.  It's because he feels very blessed to have worked with the finest musicians and songwriters in the music industry, and he's especially glad when they get to share in receiving recognition together.

Rusty shares: "Thank you to everyone who has believed in me, whether it was 50 years ago when I started my journey as a professional in the world of music, or maybe a brand new person who wants to find out more about me and my music.  I thank you all.  I don't know what I would have done if music hadn't grabbed a hold of me at an early age."

Below is a video of his acceptance speech at the 2023 JMA's at the Grand Old Opry, and a list of honors and recognition (listed newest to oldest) that Rusty is pleased to have received and been a part of:

Rusty shares: "I am trying 2 juggle FOUR. That is Dianne Wilkinson and Jerry Salley (my Co-writers and Co-Winners)....the only award I took home that night that they didn't was 'SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR" - April 18, 2010 SGN Awards Show

BEST PROGRESSIVE GOSPEL SONG 2010 - "WHAT SALVATION'S DONE FOR ME"
Rusty shares: "on my right are Jim Brady & Michael Booth (Booth Brothers- who performed the song that night) and co-host SONYA ISAACS. On my left are co-host Mike Bowling and my dear co-writer Dianne Wilkinson.  On a personal note, this was my first time (out of 4) to go up and accept an award that night. I spent most of this one looking at and talking about my Dad, my brother Chris and our lifelong friend Greg Gordon all 3 whom were my "dates" for the evening. I can just see in my own eyes that I was looking directly at where they were sitting. Funny (to me)."

Thank You Lord.
BTW...that is presenter and super talent Sonya Isaacs on Jerry's right. She is one of my all time favorite singers in ANY genre. Like an angel. Also on the stage...Karen Peck & New River far left. Mike Bowling is standing next 2 me. He is a #1 Artist and was a co-host with Sonya that evening."
